Every task we do holds an invitation - An invitation to engage not just with our hands and heads, but with our hearts.
It’s easy to focus on the ‘how’ of getting things done:
How fast, how efficiently, how correctly.
But there’s another layer that often goes unnoticed: ‘How fully’ are we bringing ourselves into this?
This is where heartwork comes in. It’s quieter. Softer. Nourishing.
Elim Chew, an entrepreneur from Singapore, reminds us of this beautifully:
"See things from your heart, and not just with your eyes."
Upon retiring from her fashion business, she noticed how many people—single mothers, students, individuals in debt—needed flexible work, but full-time jobs weren’t an option. Instead of watching from the sidelines, she saw the situation with her heart.
Partnering with young digital creators, Elim co-built a platform where people could earn by running errands: delivering documents, making pick-ups, helping businesses with small but essential tasks. The platform gave 90% of the earnings directly to the runners, while 10% supported single moms managing the system.
What began as an observation of disconnection transformed into a platform that matched people’s time with meaningful work, creating income for those in need. It wasn’t charity. It was dignity through opportunity.
This shift of seeing through your heart opens up new possibilities, it allows us to pay attention to what’s truly important, not just for success in work, but for connection, meaning, and impact.
A reminder that heart-led actions, no matter how small, can create ripples outwards.
